Kelly McKean, CFA - Founder and Principal
In September of 2003, in an effort to expand on her success in
equity research sales, Kelly began writing strategic marketing
plans designed to help hedge funds raise assets. Since that time
she has been successful in raising $150 million for seven
different strategies ranging from convertible bonds to small cap
L/S. In seven years, Kelly has accumulated an extensive network of
investor contacts in the United States and in Europe. She has
built Blue Corner into a dynamic third party marketing business
focused on supporting hedge fund managers in every aspect of
marketing and fundraising.
Prior to founding BLUECORNERINC., Kelly worked with
StarMine in San Francisco, a financial services software
company, where she launched StarMine Monitor, the company’s
sell-side product, and proceeded to land Merrill Lynch, the
number one ranked brokerage firm in the U.S., as the first
anchor client. In New York, Kelly worked with ING Barings
Furman Selz on the high yield trading desk, ran the financial
analyst training program and worked with the leveraged loan
department to promote ING’s service offerings. Kelly’s
international experience includes work in Hong Kong with
Accenture on a technology/change management project for
Standard Chartered Bank.
After obtaining a
Chemical Engineering degree from Auburn University, Kelly went
to work for Eastman Chemical Company selling 350 chemical
products and calling on a diverse group of industries. Kelly
received her MBA in finance from Tulane University. For
several years, Kelly was part of the Tulane alumni board of
directors and acting Tulane Alumni Club President in San
Francisco. Kelly has been active in the Financial Women's
Association of San Francisco and was instrumental in starting
a mentoring program for the FWA's scholarship winners. She is
a CFA charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Kelly lives in Pamplona, Spain. She enjoys traveling, scuba
diving, reading and exercising to include completing Iron Man,
Florida in 2008, several road marathons and one mountain
marathon.
